He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Anthony Nickel and Catherine Nickel; his wife Sandy; his son Matthew Nickel (Andria); his grandson Emmett of West Bend; his daughter Sarah Ziehr of Chicago; his siblings, Denis Nickel, Tony Nickel and Paula Nickel; his sisters-in-law, Robyn Ewing (Tim) and Susan Karoses; his nieces and nephews, Aaron Ewing (Nikki), John Ewing (Lori), Melody Ewing (Andy), Joseph Karoses (Margaret), Justin Karoses and Jill Karoses (Scott); and his godson Little Joey.
