She was predeceased by: her parent Apollonia Zechner; her stepfather Joseph Zechner; and her husband Walter Zechner. She is survived by: her daughters, Heidi Riley (Kevin), Erika Schaub (Steve) and Anita Hoppe (late Douglas); her grandchildren, Kyle and Connor Hoppe; and her sister Erika Wilke (Irvin). She is also survived by nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
Margarete was an avid knitter and used her gift to make and donate hats for cancer patients.
