He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian Barfknecht (Christianson) and Arnold Barfknecht; and his wife Carol Anderson. He is survived by: his children, Steven Barfknecht (Heidi Derendinger) and Amy Richter (Kevin); and his grandchildren, Rachel Chutek (Reece) and Ryan Richter.
