He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Sr. Nelson and Gladys Nelson (Nygaard); his wife Ann B. Derr; his parents-in-law, Roland and Clara Derr; his brother Lowell (Butch); and his siblings-in-law, John Bovre, Mary Torphy and Kathy Nelson.

He is survived by: his children, Pamela Cook (Mark) and Dennis; his grandchildren, Nelson, Douglas Nelson (Carie), Patti Hartley (Rick), David Nelson (Tammy) and Peggy Conrad (William); his siblings, Ruth Bovre and Ronald Nelson (Diane); his sister-in-law Suzie Nelson; and his close friends, Monica and Al Davis. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
