He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Sauls and Margaret Sauls (Goff); his parents-in-law, Thomas Russel and Mary Dee Kellum; his sister Jeanette Wilson; his siblings-in-law, DonnieAnn Sauls and John Thomas Kellum; and his nephews, George "Rusty" Kellum, Jr. and Kevin Olin Sauls.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Nell; his children, Rich Sauls (Patty), Margie Blair-Petges (Jack) and Terri Engels (Mike); his grandchildren, Shane Sauls (Kerrigan Patterson), Kasi Rogala (Brody), Luke Blair, Leah Blair, Sarah Blair, Haley Petges (Tony Aker), Reid Petges and Samantha Cooper (Thad); his great grandchildren, Landon Aker, Evelyn Aker, Addie Cooper and Oliver Cooper; his brother Billy Sauls; and his parents-in-law, George Kellum, Sr. (Carol) and Arne Gulbrandsen (Olivia). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
