He was predeceased by: his parents, Sheldon Hayhurst and Lillian Hayhurst (Barsalow); his wife Joyce Pray; his brother Wesley Hayhurst; his grandson Nathan Leatherby; and his son-in-law David Jones.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Hayhurst of Dubuque Ia, Bruce Hayhurst of Cassville, Marsha Jones of Wauzeka, Cheryl Leatherby (Timothy), Carolyn Hayhurst of Lexington, S. C. and Sharon Ackerman (William) of Glen Haven. He is also survived by 6 Grandchildren 3 Great-Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials can given to the family, and they will distribute to Norman's favorite charity.
