He was predeceased by: his parents, August Schmidt and Louise Schmidt; his brother-in-law Jose Ortiz; and his niece Louisa Ortiz. He is survived by: his nephew Johnny; and his siblings, Dave Schmidt (Cheryl) of Green Bay, Philip Schmidt (Mee) of Bonduel, Charles Schmidt (Cathy) of Cecil, Gerald Schmidt (Judy) of Bonduel, Janet Ortiz of Bonduel, Paul Schmidt (Renee) of Bonduel and Ron Schmidt (Amy) of Bonduel. He is also survived by father like figure for both of his sister's children.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for St. Paul Lutheran School/Church or Wolf River Lutheran High School.
