He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. Welsh and Oriette Ottum Welsh; his sister Susan Richter; his parents-in-law, William and Anna Quick; and his sister-in-law Debra Zimmerman.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Quick; his daughters, Carrie Champlin (Robert) of Lyndon Station and Jennifer Welsh of The Woodlands, TX; his grandchildren, Jacob Goeke of Reedsburg, Tallon (Ashley Zuhlke) of Baraboo and Riley Kay Roberts (Ryan) of Reedsburg; his great grandchildren, Aspynn Goeke, Grayson "Bubba" Roberts and Adalyn Roberts; his brothers, Stephen (Corrine) of Mount Horeb and Tim Welsh (Carol) of Blue River; and his siblings-in-law, Marjorie White (Roger) of Fennimore, Kathy Eggebakken (Mark) of West Salem and Steve Zimmerman of Patch Grove. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other family and many friends.
