He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Appell and Ellen Appell (Dorneden); his parents-in-law, Walter and Dorothy Gritmacker; and his sister-in-law Vi Appell.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Appell; his children, Tammy Duhr and Timothy Appell (Wendy); his stepchildren, Karen Okeson and Ralph Okeson (Jan); his grandchildren, Michael Duhr (Brandy), Ashley Duhr, Jada Hicks (James Morrissey), Remington Appell, Jarod Okeson and Autumn Okeson; his siblings, Marilyn Sagmoen (Bob) and Bruce Appell; and his former wife Carol Korn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law.
