He was predeceased by: his father Wayne Nyen; his sister Lou Nyen; his grandparents, Basil, Eunice Nyen, Edward and Evelyn Walstad; his stepdaughter Sara Mattson; and his pet Abby.

He is survived by: his mother Lillian Nyen (Walsted); his wife Marsha Mattson; his children, Amanda Nyen (Amber), Nevin Nyen (Paige), Jessie Nyen and Jennifer Nyen; and his siblings, Warren Nyen, David Nyen (Marie), Jim Nyen (Sue) and Lori Reismann (Todd). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
