Irene J. Torkelson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Irene J. Torkelson of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, who passed away on December 25, 2020 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Amo and Bessie Amo (Helbling); her son David; and her siblings, Eugene Amo, Robert Amo, Dorothy Nemitz and Joan Short.

She is survived by: her former husband Raymond Torkelson (Min); her son John Torkelson; her daughter-in-law Maryannette Torkelson of New Berlin, WI; and her grandchildren, Eric Torkelson of West Allis, WI, Paul Torkelson of New Berlin, WI and Ann DeNucci. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Because of COVID, a private service will be held with Pastor Steve Rutter officiating and burial at Riverside Cemetery. There are tentative plans for a "Celebration of Life" at a later date after the coronavirus is fully under control or just a memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 115 N. 5th St., Black River Falls, WI 54615, or consider planting a tree in her memory.
