He was predeceased by: his parent Marlin Barsness; and his grandparents, Gerry, Wanda Pine, Ralph and Hazel Barsness.

He is survived by: his mother Brenda Barsness (Don Cole); his children, Ryan Barsness and Caitlin Lee Kieckhefer; his sister Debra Barsness (Shawn Statz); his grandchildren, Karsen, Karter Kieckhefer, Kash and Austyn Arneson; and his nieces, Brooke and Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family of Joseph to be designated at a later date.
