Trina M. Grothmann Obituary
Trina Marie Grothmann (Congdon) passed away peacefully on Oct 19th at the age of 65. Loving mother to Summer Grothmann (Pete) Braun, KJ (Jenny) Grothmann, and Angela Grothmann (Randy). Trina was a truly wonderful grandmother to Rigel, Remmy, Lyla, Maisy, and Lily. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion AJ and her brother David (Buzzy) Congdon. Daughter of the late Dave and Gloria Congdon.
Trina grew up in Big Bend, WI where she met Kenny Grothmann and started a family in 1978. They settled in the Mukwonago area to raise their children until her and Kenny parted ways in 1998. Trina then relocated to the natural beauty of Black River Falls. During this time, Trina loved to explore, hunt, fish, and garden. She also loved to travel and explored Italy with Summer and went whitewater rafting in the Grand Canyon. Hunting and fishing with KJ and her brother Mike was also one of her favorite pastimes. Fall was her favorite season. She also loved to cook and family meals were always made a priority despite how busy all of our lives were.
Trina suffered a tragic ATV accident in 2003 which left her confined to a wheelchair. She moved into a specially designed home to accommodate her disability near Hatfield, WI in 2005. Trina's electric wheelchair allowed her the mobility to care for her home, flower gardens, and feed the birds and deer. Her companion AJ dedicated his life to caring for Trina after the accident.
Despite her circumstances, Trina always showed love and support for her family. Many good times were had during holiday get-togethers while talking and playing games around the dinner table. She would enjoy putting her young grandchildren on her lap and taking them on motorized tours of her yard. A perfect evening for Trina would consist of organizing an epic feast of grilled meats followed by storytelling around the campfire surrounded by friends and family.
In recent years, Trina was moved closer to family after AJ's passing in 2021 to receive the care she needed. The family honors the memory of Trina Grothmann and finds comfort knowing that she may now rest in peace.
The Celebration of Trina's Life will be on November 5th 2023 from 12pm-3pm at The Blue Heron Supper Club in Big Bend Wisconsin.
