She was predeceased by: her parents, John Habel and Veronica Habel (Hansen); her husband James J. "Bert" McDermott; her son Patrick McDermott; her son-in-law Todd McNett; and her siblings, Rose Marie Habel, Benny Habel (Kay), Cyril Habel (Florence) and Darlene Clemen.

She is survived by: her children, Rose McDermott of Prairie du Chien, WI, Theresa Salzmann (Bob) of Dickeyville, WI, Jim of Benton, Rodney of Benton and Richard McDermott of Benton; her grandchildren, Bradley McNett (Manty Escoto), Brian McNett (Katie), Jacob Salzmann (Abbey Jones), Megan Salzmann and Katie Pearce (Pyzer); her great grandchild Madison Rose McNett; and her brother-in-law Loras Clemen.

In lieu of flowers, a Stella M. McDermott Memorial Fund has been established.
