He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Mathewson and Mary Mathewson (Borkenhagen); his siblings, Raymond (Shirley), LeRoy, Richard, Charles (Jeannie) and Elaine Nelson (Donald); and his brothers-in-law, Clarence Heideman and Ralph Carlson.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie Mae; his children, Susan Yonke (Brent) and Duane Mathewson (Michelle); his grandchildren, Carrie Santilli (Ajay), Mathew Yonke (Chelsea), Brittany Witt (Tyler), Brianna Juszczak (Zac), Patrick Fitzgerald (Kiera Smyth) and Cassidy Fitzgerald (Justin Skinkis); his great grandchildren, Joe, Zoey, Olivia, Ellie, Brooks, Charlotte and Jace; and his sister Edith Carlson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Vets Roll or Luther Valley Church.
