He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron West (Helen) and Helen West; his son Jeff; his wife Patricia Hornbostel; and his brothers, Jack and Bob.

He is survived by: his close friend Joyce McPhee; his children, Dana and Tom West (Vicki); his brother Kurt Fullmer (Ellen); and his grandchildren, Lauren, Casey, Madeline, Reilly, John, Charlie and Natalie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
