He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Duerst and Anna Duerst (Schilter); his wife Geraldine; his granddaughter Jennifer Sornson; his great grandchild Chance Severson; and his siblings, Violet Herricks, Viola Holloway, Hilda Duerst and Edward Duerst.
He is survived by: his children, Jacqueline Sornson (John), David Duerst (Cheryl) and Susan Severson (David). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
