He was predeceased by: his wife Judi K-Turkel; and his parents, Frances Peterson (Watson) and Don Peterson. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Kesselman of Arlington, MA, Jeffrey Kesselman (Shelley) of West Lafayette, IN, Alicia Peterson (Tom) of Stony Brook, NY, David Peterson (Sarah) of Omaha, NE and Kevin Peterson (Barb) of Belleville, WI.; his grandchildren, Kasi Frymark (Andrew), Allison Stoffel (Clayton), Ellie, Joshua, Ruth and Nichol Peterson; and his great grandchildren, Emmy, Sabrina, Gabriel Frymark and Finley Mae Stoffel.
