Lowell A. Mayer Obituary
Lowell Arnold Mayer, age 93 from the Town of Lowell passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek.
Lowell was born in Granville, WI on April 7, 1931, the son of Edgar and Martha (Bruss) Mayer. He was united in marriage to Shirley M. Green on December 4, 1952 in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a loving husband and father. He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. Lowell worked for Globe Union in Milwaukee WI before going into sales of residential and commercial electric heating. He later worked as an insurance agent for Modern Woodman of America and Equitable Reserve. Lowell and Shirley retired to Mississippi before moving back to Wisconsin. Lowell had many talents and hobbies. He was an avid golfer and once he shot a ''Hole in One. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packer Backer even going to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. He loved spending time with his family including taking them on summer fishing trips to Canada. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to ride a bicycle. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and building things, especially birdhouses for the little feathered friends.
Lowell is survived by his wife of 71 years, Shirley; children, Judy Wilkens, Peggy (Steve) Krenz, and Paul (Ann) Mayer; grandchildren, Kristy Gavin (Robert Arms) Brian Gavin (Karren Coppersmith), Kyle Krenz (Jennifer), Ryan Krenz (Jamie), Travis Mayer, and Haley (Zach) Rydquist; great-grandchildren, Jordan Dean, Jazmyn Dean, Tyler Krenz, Carsen Krenz, Hunter Gavin, Eli Rydquist, Greyson Rydquist, Madilyn Rydquist, and Hazel Rydquist; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Mayer; sister in-law, Mary Mayer; son-in-law, Larry Wilkens; and other relatives.
In honoring Lowell's wishes, private family services will be held.
The family would like to say thank you to all the wonderful health care professionals, doctors and facilities for their extraordinary care for Lowell over the last few months.
