He was predeceased by: his parents, Ludwig Zimmerman and Elsie Zimmerman of Baraboo, Wisconsin.; his son Patrick; and his sisters, Verona Ulrich (Eugene), Vanessa Richards (Ronald), Victoria Hoege (Donald), Violet Braun (Verlyn) and Vada Schwenkhoff (Orville).
He is survived by: his wife Violet Phippen; his children, Michael (Heidi), Pamela Zimmer, Sheryl Michaelson (Steve) and Teresa Browning (Michael); his daughter-in-law Lisa Zimmerman; and his siblings, Vera Bender of Rice Lake and Roger Zimmerman of Reedsburg. He is also survived by 6 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 1 great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lorenz (Marie), Arlo (Barbara), and Leo (Marjorie) Zimmerman and sister-in-law, Joann Zimmerman.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church in Baraboo.
