He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Alt and Edith Alt; and his brothers, Kenneth Alt and Reginald Alt. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Therese Wick (Olaf) of Hammond, WI, Ann Lopez (Juan) of Raleigh, NC, Mary Jo Alt of Baraboo, WI, Michelle Leon (Salvador) of Yorkville, IL and Michael Alt of Baraboo, WI; and his siblings, James Alt (Rita) of Spring Green, WI, Thomas Alt (Della) of Spring Green, WI and Cheryl Alt of Middleton, WI. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
