He was predeceased by: his parents, George Madden and Ruth Madden (Murphy); his wife Mary Walcup; his son James; and his sister Ellen (Tiber).

He is survived by: his sons, David Madden (Cristine) of Sussex, John Madden (Christine) of Sauk City and Christopher Madden (Anna) of Elroy; his grandchildren, Keltie and Rylinn; and his siblings, Mary Martin, Lori Janiuk (Tony) and Edward Madden.
