We are sad to announce that on March 29, 2024, at the age of 79, Gilles Verboom (Baraboo, Wisconsin) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacques Verboom and Marie-Louise Verboom; his parents-in-law, Ellen and James Looker; his brother Christian Verboom; and his children-in-law, Gavin Kessler and Sarah Hixson.

He is survived by: his wife Ronni Sue Verboom; his children, Denis Jones-Verboom (Bobby) of Rockford, IL, Dr. Natalie Luhtala PhD (Erik) of La Jolla, CA, Andrea Haan (Andrew) of Green Oaks, IL and Julien Verboom (Vicki) of Geneva, IL; his grandsons, David Gilles Anthony Verboom, Nicholas Patrick Haan and Jacob Andrew Haan; his sister-in-law Claude Verboom; his brother Dan; his sister-in-law Joan Looker; and his nieces and nephews, Julie DeCevins (Gilles), Philippe Verboom, Colleen Looker (Brad Foxhoven), Maureen Kieffer (Steve) and Nate Looker (Juliana).

In lieu of flowers please consider making contributions in Gilles' memory to AARP, Doctors Without Borders (Médecins sans Frontières) or plant a tree commemorating his love of the outdoors.

“I was deeply saddened to learn of Gilles' passing. Having had the pleasure of working alongside him at Avlon for many years, I can attest to what a remarkable individual he was. Gilles' infectious smile and cheerful demeanor brightened our workplace, and his passion for skiing was always a joy to hear about. Even after his retirement, Gilles made an effort to stay connected. His presence will be sorely missed, and I extend my heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family.”
