He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Backes and Marylin Backes (Eveland); his brother Scott Backes; his parents-in-law, Earl and Zelda Ferry; his siblings-in-law, Earl Ferry Jr., Robert Martinson, Alvin Edgemon and Gwen Edgemon; and his nieces, Jennifer Tacheny and Yvonne Edgemon.
He is survived by: his grandson Tyler; his wife Tracy Ferry; his sons, Brian and Tyler; and his siblings, Sheri Anderson (Tony), Kyle (Heather), Dani (Karen), Brant (Jamie) and Bruce. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
