He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hielkema and Nettie Hielkema (Houtsma); his wife Suzanna Zevenbergen; his granddaughters, Stormi and Breanna; his great grandchild Brixton; his siblings, Sophie Winters and Art Hielkema; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hielkema and Joan Hielkema.
He is survived by: his children, Jeff (Robyn Fox), Jerry (Laura), Jody Ramberg (Tim) and Joe (Brenda); his grandchildren, Jamie, Ashley Derjani (Tony), Daniel (Leannah), Dylan (Emilie), Colleen, Chantal (Jake) and Spencer; his great grandchildren, Liv, May and Naya Derjani; his brother Allan; his brother-in-law Ed Winters; and also, Nick Huston, Kendra Huston, Nicole Anderson (Cam), Keely Huston and Makiah Kemper.
