He was predeceased by: his parents, Allie Gardner and Elvera Gardner; his former wife Betty Grothaus of Winfield, IL; his brothers, Robert Gardner and Thomas Gardner (Sharon); his granddaughter Stephanie Gerhardt; and his nephews, Donald Gardner and Steven Gardner.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Frazier; his children, Cynthia Cain (Brian), David Gardner (Kim), Kathy Jeska (Lee) and Becky Lindemann (Britt); his stepdaughters, Gayle Gerhardt and Felicia Dunn (Randi); and his siblings, Alice Hoffman and Gerald Gardner. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
