He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis McDermid and Doris McDermid (Exferd); his wife Judy McDermid (Koltz); and his siblings, Glen, Gary, Paul, Monte, Dawg and Sue McDermid.
He is survived by: his siblings, Peggy O'Mara, Jan McDermid and Jon McDermid; his son Martin McDermid (Heather); and his stepchildren, Shari Petersen (Charlie) and Rob Wolcott. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lee's name to the Diabetes Research Foundation.
