He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Nichols and Maurine Nichols (Reed); his half-brother Sam Nichols; his parents-in-law, Ella and Herman Ripp; his niece Jennifer Ripp; and his sisters-in-law, Beverly Nichols, Carol Lee Ripp and Rita Harrie.
He is survived by: his wife Carol; his daughters, Erin Nichols Matkaiti (Kevin) and Meegan Kaster (Michael); his grandchildren, Sullivan, Finnegan Kaster, Evelyn and Pierce Matkaiti; his brother Thomas Nichols; and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Peterson (Harold), Herman Ripp, Bill Harrie and David Ripp (Jana). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
