He was predeceased by: his parents, John Matchey and Verna Matchey (Roskos); his wife Doris Buchholz; his siblings, Alphonse (Bernice), Richard, Bernard Matchey, Marian Sosalla and Eleanore Bohlinger; and his siblings-in-law, Jean Hermann (Milford), Lucille Pientok (Leonard), LaVina Anderson (Orlyn), La Vonne Eggebrecht (Louis), Barbara Schwartz, Richard Buchholz (Jeanette) and Emil Buchholz.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Matchey Annibal of Blair, Lori Matchey (Randy Beckwith) of Chicago, Todd Matchey of Independence, Tamara "Tami" Matchey (Lawrence Schrock) of Blair and Lisa Schank (Richard) of Kenosha; his grandchildren, Austin Matchey (Courtney), Jordan Matchey, Mercedes Matchey (Carson Wheeler), Jayden Matchey (Riley Schneider), Jacob Labatore (Olivia Krahn-Bockhop) and Justin Labatore; his sister Darlene Sura (Bernard); and his siblings-in-law, Pat Matchey, Margaret Matchey, Beatrice Suchla (Donald), Roger Buchholz (Marietta) and Allen Schwartz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to "family wishes".
