He was predeceased by: his parents, George Abts and Margaret Abts (Zeller); his siblings, William Abts (Shirley), Eugene Abts, Melvin Abts (Luella), Moraine Suchla (Mike), Dawn Kostner (Bud), Catherine Brennen (Orville), Evelyn Laehn (Clifford) and Margie Andre-Rumple (Franklin "Eli"); his parents-in-law, Eugene and Evelyn Pierzina; and his brothers-in-law, Ray Ver Hagen, Wayne Pierzina and Kevin Pierzina.
He is survived by: his wife Patty Pierzina; his daughter Analita Platteter (Curtis); his grandsons, Liam and Wyatt Platteter; his sisters, Mary Lou Sobotta (David), Jane Abts and Carmen Ver Hagen; and his sister-in-law Luz Marie Abts. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews and friends.
