He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Smith and Julia Smith (Challe); his grandchild Nate; his sisters, Eileen Stoeger (Walter) and Karen Janssen; his children-in-law, Michelle Smith and Mike Harp; and his siblings-in-law, Jacqueline Nolte (Dick), Loren Benson and Steve Benson.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Benson; his children, Brenda Schumacher (Mike), Darrel Smith (Deb) of Blanchard, OK, Lynn Harp, Dave Smith (Donna), Skip Smith (Deb) and Little Chute; his grandchildren, Nicole Lange (Mark), Matt Schumacher (Cecelia), Kate Parker (Kirk), Luke Schumacher (Annie), Coy Smith (Jill), Cas Smith (Devin), Cal Smith (Emily), Joshua Mc Kee, Christopher Mc Kee, Tyler Mc Kee, Ben Harp (Jamie), Sam Harp, Angela Raddant (Brandon), Alex Smith (Laura), Autumn Smith (Josh Hilgendorf), Jake Smith (Monica), Hannah Hietpas (Wes), Maggie Fisher (Nick) and Sarah Bauman (Alex); his brother Lloyd Smith (Nancy); and his siblings-in-law, Bill Benson (Shirley), Nancy Benson and Beverly Benson. He is also survived by 30 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
