In loving memory of Richard W. Stern of Appleton, Wisconsin, born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, who departed this world on July 12, 2024 at the age of 81. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Stern and Marie Stern (Millard); his parents-in-law, Herbert and Mayme Prochnow; his sister Elizabeth Mytton; and his in-laws, Karen, Lee Never, Vivian, Donald Huth, Arline Algiers, Dorothy Linberg, Donald Prochnow, David Prochnow and Chuck Oertel.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his daughters, Debra Munley (Christopher), Christine Wilharm (Michael) and Gina McNerney (Christopher); his grandchildren, Sean, Carolyn Munley, Courtney Manteufel (Josiah), Carley, Lauren Wilharm, William, Connor and Graceyn McNerney; his great grandchildren, Aylah and Ellie Manteufel; his siblings, Mary Lou Prochnow (Leslie), Joyce Schroth (Gary), Jeanne Fichter (Steve), Bill Stern (LuAnn) and Jane Stern; and his siblings-in-law, Leslie Prochnow (Mary Lou), Gary Mytton, Jack Algiers and Marilyn Oertel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, you may honor Dick's memory by sending donations to the Alzheimer's Association or to Faith Lutheran Church of Appleton, WI.

Dave Hutchison wrote a sympathy message

“Our sympathies to Carol and her entire family. Dick was a great friend from grade school through high school. He was an excellent all-round athlete and especially at football. I sure enjoyed him as one of my favorite NLHS football teammates! May he rest in peace and his memory live on in his family and New London High School as one of the best players on the team and also one of the nicest guys in the class!
