He was predeceased by: his parents, Louie Strehlow and Emma Strehlow (Wojan); his wife Bertha Neubauer; and his siblings, Mildred Cary (Harley) and Ruben Strehlow (Lenore). He is also survived by relatives, nieces, nephews, close friends, and caregivers.

He served on the State Site Committee, Parliamentarian and District Election Committee, and as director of the Lions Foundation in Rosholt.
