He was predeceased by: his parents, David Hermolin and Lucy Hermolin (Schleifstein). He is survived by: his wife Renate Bromberg; and his brother Sol Hermolin of Toronto. He is also survived by two nieces, a nephew, and a community of friends.

A memorial has been established for the Langlade County Historical Society, which Joe loved and supported so deeply.
