He was predeceased by: his parents, George and Merle; his siblings, Harold, Neva, Frederick, Joseph "Charles", James, Mary Ellen and Marcia; and his children, David and Mary.

He is survived by: his brother Dave; his wife Betty; his siblings, Hazel Shulfer (Donald) and Robert "Bob" Helbach (Helen); his children, Mark Helbach (Morna), Lisa Waldoch (David) and Heidi Pronschinske; his son-in-law Gregg Jensen; his grandchildren, Lyn Polster (Pat), Molly, Marcus, Geena Jensen, Kelly (Justin Chang), Frankie, Connor Helbach, Hans (Chyaine), Ian Waldoch, Nathan, Adam and Chance Pronschinske; his great grandchildren, Elia Helbach-Chang and Rhett Polster; and his grandchildren, Sam Bucholtz, Tyler Polster and Archer Bucholtz.
