He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schanon and Charlotte Schanon (Bye); his stepmother Evelyn (Bushendorf); his brother-in-law Kenneth Stensvold; and his daughter Laura.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Halstead; his children, Michelle Schanon Dovey (Mike), Jill Schanon Macek (Jasun), Tom (Megan Schulte), Sara Schanon Jensen (Scott) and Corey Shipley; his siblings, Peggy Stensvold and Patrick "Ricky" (Julie); and his grandchildren, Erin, Charlotte Dovey, Lucia, Estelle Macek, Bodhi Schanon, Joseph, William, Leopold and Henry Jensen.
