He was predeceased by: his parents, Firmin Schildgen and Katherine Schildgen (Knapp); his siblings, Ivan "Ike" Schildgen, Irene Adams and John "Jack" Schildgen; his brothers-in-law, Ron Ellis, Charlie Adams, Merle Ritter and Dave Southworth; and his parents-in-law, Carl and Pearl Otzelberger.
He is survived by: his wife Karlene A. Schildgen; his daughter Kris Mickelson (Dean Pribbenow); his grandchildren, Emma, Leah and Sam; and his siblings, Shirley Ellis, Ruth Southworth, Jean Brandemuehl (Larry), Mark Schildgen (Mary), Karen Olson (Jerry), Linda Schildgen, Betty Ritter, Rachael Fahser (Jack) and Pat Thompson (Larry). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
