He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Leja and Nellie Leja (Bobel); his sons, Joseph Charles and Gary John Leja; his siblings, Joseph Leja, Stanley Leja (Estelle), Edward Leja (Lillian), Leo Leja and Mary Wojciechowski (Chester); his brothers-in-law, Hank Kontny and Richard Kontny (Joan); and his sons-in-law, Dr. Douglas Jackson and Timm Grady.
He is survived by: his wife Leona Kontny; his children, Dr. Loretta Leja, Ron Leja (Cathy), Shirley Sains (Trevor) and Debbie Leja-Grady; his grandchildren, Andy Jackson (Brandi Lawrey), Becky Jackson, Chris Jackson, Ryan Leja (Melissa), Renee Falkowski (Travis), Rory Leja (Stepanie Feucht), Riley McDermid (Chuck), Savana and Tanner Sains; his great grandchildren, Daniel Faith, Carter Bur, Makenzie, Gavin Lawrey, Lylia, Addyson, Evelyn Leja, Jack, Ty Falkowski, Nolan, Macy Feucht, Gracyn and Hunter McDermid; his sister Alice Blazei (Carl); and his sisters-in-law, Theresa Leja and Monica Kontny. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Church (6051 Noble St, Sobieski, WI 54171). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charlie's family, for causes that were meaningful to him.
