He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Poehnelt (Glenn); his siblings, Julie Schindhelm, David and Ronald; his brother-in-law David Schindhelm; and his stepmother Shirley Poehnelt.
He is survived by: his father Matt Poehnelt of Colby; his former spouse Marjean Fischer; his grandchildren, Derek and Misty; his children, Dawn Belanger of Lomira and Derek Poehnelt (Misty) of Medford; his grandchildren, Meghan Belanger, Eric Belanger, Gracen Poehnelt and Ava Poehnelt; and his siblings, Tom (Diane) of Eagle, Don (Jackie) of Loyal, Mike of Colby, Mark of Medford, Jim, Karen Ludwig (Lanny) of Dorchester, Sandy Jakel (Mike) of Dorchester, Sharon Blume (Henry) of Dorchester, Linda Bach (Steven) of Dorchester and Donna (Kevin) of Westboro. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The High Ground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville, where a stone will be placed in Richard's honor.
