James Seymour wrote a sympathy message

“Joel was my steadfast friend in Amsterdam, NY. We were members of the old Second Pres. Church. We attended Sunday School, youth fellowship groups, sang in the youth choir, played church league basketball, went to church camps together. They say if you have one good friend in life, you've got it made! Joel was all that. On every trip to the east coast, Joel made it a practice to stop off and see me. He was a mainstay at the Class of 1959 of Wilbur H. Lynch reunions. I will miss him a lot.”
