He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alvin Harris and Naomi Harris; his grandson Mike; his friend Del; his children, Diana Deatherage (Mike) and Mike Harris (Trina); his grandchildren, Chris Deatherage (Jill), Jason Harris (Darlene), Jake Harris, Brandon Kelley (Karissa) and Amanda Armstrong (Josh); his sister Estelle; his grandson Dan Deatherage; and his siblings, Bill and Juanita. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

He had plans to go to Disneyland in 2019 but had to cancel those plans due to Covid.
