He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Carpenter and Robert Carpenter; his brothers, Dan, Bob and John; and his grandson Chris Dethman.
He is survived by: his wife Jayne Merle; his daughter Tawnya Swanson; his grandchildren, Mick Dethman and Miranda Clark; his stepchildren, Scott Merle (Michelle), Jessica Merle (Jeff Keldsen) and Brett Merle; his grandchildren, Jackson Merle, Hunter Merle, Tucker Keldsen, Sofia Keldsen and Megan Olsen; his siblings, Mary McClung (Norman), Ginny Carpenter, Lilly Dunn Rosey Cater (Danny) and Fred Carpenter Joe Carpenter (Loleta); his aunts, Teta Roland and Jeannie; and his uncle Francis Reiser. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
