He is survived by: his children, Natalie L. Smith of Seattle, WA and Benjamin C. Smith of Los Alamos, NM; his former wife Catherine A. Hayes of Los Alamos; his siblings, Carol Braithwaite of Portland, OR and Jim Carver of Portland, OR; his nieces and nephews, Jim Carver, Shaun Carver, Dawni Braithwaite and David Braithwaite; and his pets, Rosie and Annie.
