It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Van Diest of Sumas, Washington, born in Lynden, Washington, who passed away on March 15, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Diest and Bernice Van Diest (Koetje); his siblings, Jim Van Diest (Billie), June Heutink (Rich) and Clara Zoet; his daughter Shirley Nelson; and his daughter-in-law Kathy Van Diest.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Vanderhage; his children, Valerie Tremelling, Karen Smith (Mark), Diane Button (Mike), Ken Van Diest, Christine Cline (Scott) and Laurie Goble-Van (Ginger); his son-in-law Bill Nelson; and his sister Helen Hogarth (Bob). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Lighthouse Mission or the Sumas Christian Reformed Church-Hospitality.
