He was predeceased by: his parents, Pete Bruinsma and Tillie Bruinsma; his sister MaryAnn Spoelstra; his nephews, Luke and Matthew Spoelstra; his in-laws, Hans and Wilma Vander Veen; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Vander Veen and Hans Vander Veen.
He is survived by: his wife Trena Vander Veen; his daughter Katie; his siblings, Debbie Donovan (Kevin), Tena Storgaard (Steve) and Pete Bruinsma (Michelle); and his siblings-in-law, Grace Timmer (Ed), Bev Vander Veen, Charlie Vander Veen (Brenda), Ben Vander Veen (Chris) and Jennie Ann Haveman (Dennis). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Sumas Cemetery (9400 Sumas Rd, Sumas, WA 98295). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Second Christian Reformed Church (710 Front St, Lynden, WA 98264).
