He was predeceased by: his parents, Candelario Vargas and Luisa Vargas; his wife Nila Vargas; his daughter Emma Candia (Vargas); and his grandson Rey Candia.
He is survived by: his siblings, Polo Vargas, Noel Vargas and Candelaria Tovias; and his children, Jose Luis Vargas (Sofia), Luisa Mora (Daniel), Omero Vargas (Becky), Nestor Vargas Jr. (Valori) and Pete Vargas (Sunny). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
