He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Karnitz and Anna Karnitz; and his wife Barbara Franz. He is survived by: his children, Paul Karnitz (Erin), Teresa "Teri" Karnitz, David Karnitz (Rhonda), Ann Lueck (Jerry) and Patricia Bischoff (Randy). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren (with 15 spouses), 35 great-grandchildren, 2 brother- and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
