She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Kersch and Esther Kersch; her husband Doane D Ervin; her daughter Barbara Ervin Schmidt; and her siblings, Dorothy Kersch, Grace Kersch Ervin and Benjamin Kersch.

She is survived by: her children, Cindy Ervin Savage (Pat Savage) and Ted Ervin (Peggy Ervin); her grandchildren, Tony Savage (Christa Savage), Toby Savage, Vince Ervin (Roberta Ervin), Eric Schmidt (Jamie Schmidt), Travis Ervin (Sarah Ervin), Tiffany Savage and Tracy Savage Tesch (Trent Tesch); her sister-in-law Inge Kersch; and also Mike Schmidt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Horizon Hospice in Spokane in memory of Thelma Ervin.
