He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Peter and Helen Frances (Ferschweiller); and his brothers, Philip and Stephen. He is survived by: his children, Julie (Dan Tylman), Michele Cassinelli (Sara), Ken Troyer, Ryan (Jamie) and Rebecca Smith; his grandchildren, Theo Tylman, Alice Ruttum, Karin Waber, Elizabeth Behrens, David, Michael Troyer, Kayla Davis, Rudi Irby, Tristen Womack, Austin, Tyler and Jesse Smith; and his siblings, George, Greg Smith, Loraine Flatters and Mary Sue Erhardt. He is also survived by in-laws, various outlaws, numerous nieces, nephews and 4 great-grandchildren.

As a generous donor to many educational and Catholic charities, memorial contributions can be made in his name to All Saints Catholic School, Gonzaga Prep, Gonzaga University or St. Peter's Catholic Church.
