Gerry Shoaf wrote a sympathy message

“With sorrow but also with fond memories I reflect on the passing of my first cousin Robert “Bob” Race. We were childhood playmates in the little mountain hamlet of Warrensville, NC before his family moved to Washington state, following the untimely death of his mother. I recall sleigh riding, snowball fights and eating cherries until we were sick. Over the years we kept in touch mainly by phone but did get to see each other occasionally during travels. I will miss Bob, may he rest in peace.”

Rickilyn Schneider wrote a sympathy message

“Bob was one of the most amazing of men! He was kind, funny, delightful and simply the best friend anyone could have. It was my privilege to know him in high school and to reconnect at class reunions. He was one of my mom's favorite workers at Nat Park in the early 60's. He played amazing football! I always felt safe, respected and cared for as his friend. He will be missed. Sending love and prayers to Sharon and the family. Rickilyn Watt Schneider”
